DIY Notebooks

Home from Hawaii… and it’s back to the grind.

As I am seeing loads and loads of photos from #NYNOW, I thought it would be fun to do a post dedicated to notebooks.  I am an unapologetic notebook hoarder.  I literally mean that – everytime and anytime I see a beautiful notebook, I purchase it.  I’m not really sure for what anymore these days since I have so many…

Anyway, my favorite type of notebooks are roughly 8.5 x 5.5.  They’re generally the standard sized notebooks for anything work/ note taking related, but I also love jotters.  Jotters are anywhere from 4×5.5 to 3×4 in size.  They’re perfect for little notes, recipes, grocery shopping, etc.

But – who wants to pay for these tiny little itty bitty notebooks that you fill up in less than a week?  I know I don’t.  I’d rather save my money for the larger notebooks, haha.

That said, I thought it would be fun to make some notebooks for my bff’s 30th bday, which I’m hosting at my home this weekend (busy busy!).  There will be LOTS of sneak peaks regarding her party, and this is the first.

I’ll be doing something with these notebooks that tie everything decor-related together.  She’s a youtube cook (link here: eatnowcrylater) so it’s all kind of perfect.

These were all designed, printed, & packaged in my home office – and they were crazy easy.  I’ll post a tutorial sometime next week!

For now, I must finish filling a crazy amount of shop orders and of course, unpacking. :)

Monday Things

I live for sunny mornings – especially living here in Seattle.  There’s just something so beautiful about seeing the sunlight through my windows.  Inspiring, almost.

I have a bucket-list of items that I need to get finished today, so it’s definitely feeling like Monday around here.  But – the good news first: new business cards.  Yay!  Several styles actually, as seen above.  <3

Time to get back to work and have loads more coffee.

New Years – Decor & All

More often than not, if someone in my family is throwing a party, I’m  the first person to know about it.  This is mostly due to the fact that I can style the sh*t out of just about anything.

That said, my brother and his wife always host parties – but they really wanted to go all out for this one.  Of course, going all out still means there is a budget to be had.

For the most part, I can make just about anything.  The photo below are some of the items I made for the event.  The only thing I actually spent money on (this of course, does not include design/ setup time) were balloons, candles, helium and beads/ blowers.

I always think it’s fun to do things that are interactive – so of course, being New Years Eve, it only made sense to have: 1) gold tinsel filled glassine bags.  These were a huge hit and not hard to clean, since it wasn’t tiny bits of confetti. 2) Photobooth prop – CENSORED.  Love?  Love! 3) Celebrate party hats.  These weren’t hard to make, just time consuming.  If I could do it again, I wouldn’t spend the time making these.. lol. 4) TATTOOS!  Who doesn’t love temp tattoos, esp. ones filled with such aspirational motivational sayings for the 2014??

& the photo above is how I styled the event.  I didn’t take as many photos as I could have, since people showed up early, but that’s okay.  I had a great time and everyone loved the decor, so my job was done. <3

Hope you all had an amazing NYE!!

Halloween Party + Decor.

So I threw a Halloween party this year – ‘Costumes + Cocktails’ to be exact.

While I love a good Costume party, I’m honestly not the biggest halloween-decor fan.  Mostly because I think anything/ everything Halloween-decor related is tacky, so I just made sure to incorporate elements of orange/ tan throughout. But let’s be honest – I am just a fan of ANY party, as long as I get to decorate :)

Because it was a Halloween party, it only made sense to make a dessert/ cake table.  Everything on this table literally cost no more than $40.  Sweet deal considering I ALWAYS do Charcuterie/ food settings.  I just picked up a small pumpkin pie, some candy, chips, pumpkin pie cookies, pretzels, chocolate, some oreos, some milano cookies, and cupcakes.  I love the clean look of table settings, so I always strive for that – regardless of the food options.

halloween-foodI decided I wanted a Champagne bar for the ladies, which included 3 different types of Champagnes – a Prosecco, a Rose, and a Dry.  I wanted to make it fun and interactive, so I had 4 different types of fruit add-ins, in addition to a side of Cherries + Olives.  Everyone LOVED the bar and I easily wrote out 3 Champagne drink mixes on Chalkboard Contact paper (so easy!).  I have always been a fan of using stemmed glassware vs. anything plastic, so I *may have picked up more glasses than necessary. :)

For the guys, we did a Scotch + Cigar bar.  I thought it would be fun to write out the 4 different types, along with the yrs, aromas, etc.  This was incredibly helpful, esp. for those who are new to Scotches.  And while most of the guys weren’t huge Scotch/ Whiskey fans, they did enjoy the Cigars.  Matt is a pretty big Scotch fan so he enjoyed himself, even if no one else did haha.  Doesn’t matter to me – it was pretty all the same. :)

scotchTon of family, friends, coworkers, etc came and it couldn’t have turned out better.  The party was just a few days ago but I’m already planning our next.. haha.

PS – can you guess what I was??
