More often than not, I get so caught up in work that I forget about all of the 100million projects I want to do. Build a raised garden, plant more flowers in & outside of the house, paint & decorate the guestroom… you get the point.
With Easter near, I always try to do something fun for the kids at my moms house. Last year I made these sorted jelly bean mason jars (see pic below!) and while the kids loved them, they were a bit impractical. I mean – do kids really care about mason jars? & what are they supposed to do with them when they’re done??
So I went with something just as fun but much more practical this year – decorated Easter Eggs w/ Waterslide material! Directions below the fold:
You’ll need:- Waterslide paper (inkjet or laser is fine, just make sure you cure it as instructed) – in my case I have inkjet so I’ll make my directions according to my own use
– Any kind of clear adhesive spray (I used Krylon Clear Acrylic spray paint) *this is only needed if you’re using inkjet waterslide material
– 1 dozen boiled eggs
– Small dish of warm water
I made & printed these designs below to be used on my eggs. I’ll attach the artwork below if anyone wants to use the same!
To use the waterslide material using an inkjet, you’ll want to open the design and print on highest resolution, glossy paper. Once printed, you’ll coat the paper at least 3 times with the Krylon spray. This just locks in the ink. Let dry for at least 20 minutes!
Once this is done, cut out your images with as little white surrounding as possible. But – this isn’t all that important since it becomes clear anyway. You can see how I cut mine below.
Now comes the fun part! All you do now is put in a piece of the waterslide material (that’s already been cut) into a warm bowl of water. Wait about 30 seconds and then bring it directly to the egg, with the white backing still in tact. Once you have it on the egg, hold onto the top of the waterslide material & slide the backing off. Now simply adjust and press out all air —— & you have a decorated egg! The waterslide material is totally transparent & adjustable, so get out all the air bubbles.
Literally, easy freakin’ peasy.
Happy Egg-making! <3
